A Bentley Mulsanne Convertible! Why Not?

When Bentley hinted at a possible Mulsanne Convertible at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance, it really got the car world excited, because for five years, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe and Convertible (click here to read about them) have had exactly 0 competitors. But it seems like a logical idea, with advantages such as lineup expansion and a new car for Abu Dhabi oil sheiks to blow their millions on. They also released a basic sketch of the possible Convertible, and it looked great. Some magazines and websites did renderings, and they all looked pretty accurate. But after a couple of months, Bentley's CEO, Wolfgang Schreiber, confirmed that they will NOT be creating a convertible variant of the existing Mulsanne sedan. But on the bright side, it would have had to cost over $400,000, and the Continental GTC gets better MPG, is faster, and performs better. So if you're really disappointed about this, just try not to think "oh no, what will I spend my $450,000 on now?"
