Comparison: 2014 Bentley Flying Spur vs. 2014 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II

Both cars here are made in Britain and both have enormous price tags, both more than $250,000. Both can be chauffeur-driven or a driver's car and have extremely powerful engines. And they are some of the most luxurious cars on earth. But we will find out soon which is better.

2. Bentley Flying Spur

The Flying Spur is new for 2014, launched as a face lift/replacement for the old Continental Flying Spur as an action to separate Bentley's sedans from their coupes. I think the Flying Spur is a little too sporty for the segment it is in but is still luxurious nonetheless. The interior is exactly the same as the Continental GT family but again, I think it is too sporty and not comfortable enough to be able to keep up with Jaguar, Maserati, and even Rolls-Royce. Power comes from a Volkswagen-derived 6.0 liter W12 engine that produces 616 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. 0-60 takes 4.9 seconds and to a top speed of 200mph.

1. Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II

The extremely new Ghost Series II came out a matter of days ago and not much has changed except for some technical and bodywork changes. The Ghost arrived in 2010 and has been loved by many ever since. The interior is more plush than the Bentley's and has multiple options that make it even better, including front and rear massaging seats, ventilated seats, a rear-seat entertainment system based off of BMW's iDrive system, and a rear fridge. Its powerhouse is a 6.6 liter V12 that produces 563 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque. 0-60 happens in an incredible 4.2 seconds and direct-injection helps the fuel-economy as well as cylinder deactivation. So, not as fast as the Bentley but still very fast for a car this size.
